Back?

Am I done blogging? This has been a spotty year, with long stretches without posting. Two and a half months have passed since the previous entry (though there was good stuff in May)… and nothing in April before.
I’ll try to get back on pace, though regular posting might not start until the second half of August.
And if and when I realize I can’t pull it together, I’ll shut this down, with an announcement. I’m hoping that won’t be necessary.

JD, even if you stop blogging, it’s important that this blog stay up. There’s so much good material here!
What are you teaching this fall?
I’ll be teaching 2 sections of regular algebra, 2 sections of algebra that start in the middle of the course (all 4 will be pure freshman classes), and the second term of algebra 2/trig, which will morph into a precalculus in the spring, for some of our advanced juniors.
And a shutdown would not involve removing the archives. I would just freeze them in place.
I hope you stay up. I have been referring teachers to this site as it is extremely helpful information. Even if teachers are not posting, they are reading. I am at a turnaround school and many teachers used the “Do Not Apply” list to avoid certain schools on the list and read the comments. This information will be so necessary this coming year when attacks on teachers are expected to continue or increase. We need to remain informed especially since this is Bloomberg’s last stand. I think we are at the calm before the coming storm. We need this site and I hope more teachers participate. Teachers, spread the word of this blog to your colleagues as many are unaware of its existence. JD, we need you now more than ever–we need to help each other.
JD,
Please don’t stop blogging. Please don’t close this site. Teachers including myself read your blogs two or more times a week. We depend on you to keep us informed. Thanks for your great work.

necessary? i sure hope not… there’s plenty of good *math* blogging out there i guess by now… and that’s admittedly what i pop in here now and then *looking* for… but on the NYC school scene, you’re very much one-of-a-kind as far as i know and there doesn’t look to be anybody looking to take your place.
all i know for sure: it’s not *sufficient*. i’ve quit (and announced my quitting). it didn’t take.
