When we went to Mexico City (Part 1)
There are so many photos of my mom, and stories about mom, Sandy Rosen… in the days after her death (July 15) I put up lots. But I have not gotten to Mexico City. First I needed to find the device where most of the photos were hidden. And then I had to be ready for it, which meant taking a little extra time. But I found the device, downloaded the 250 pictures, and have taken a few weeks. I’m ready now. Here we go.
I don’t remember all the conversation going into this trip – but Mommy wanted to go – Wade wasn’t interested, and somehow she managed to convince me. It was a big jump from a weekend visiting Cambridge, or a day trip to New Bedford. And Mexico City wasn’t somewhere I was dying to go. The convincing must have all been conversation – the emails start with planning – flights – and an apartment Mommy found (and I rented) for us (on the edge of Chinatown, near the Palacio de Bellas Artes).
July 15, 2015 (Wednesday)
We flew in separately, met in the airport, and cabbed in.

July 16
Explored around the apartment. There was Chinatown.

And cake or pastry shops.

And we made it to the Palacio de Bellas Artes

I don’t know which arch this is:

This must have been dinner? With the chili and the seafood, that would be mine, not Mommy’s

July 17 (Friday)
We developed a habit. We would make 2 or 3 big plans for each day, but then get moving slowly, and get to just 1, or 2. I don’t recall what we planned for our second full day – but Mommy absolutely prioritized the Palacio Postal. She was here for the murals. I let her wander, and I wandered in another direction, with an eye towards the architecture. We must have spent hours. But first, take a look at this pen… so lucky I brought it (explanation in Part 2)
Palacio Postal – we spent hours – I’m limiting the photos to mostly Mommy:
