That’s four reasons for the blog break for the last three weeks. And now it’s over. I’m back.

    How were you reorged?

I am (still) the scheduler in my school. “Reorg” means “reorganization of the school” means “changeover between terms with new schedules.” So I, in fact, was not reorged. I did the reorging.

Acch. I left out the school closings. It was a PEP or a demonstration or a CEC almost every other day for all of January. I was spent. I blew off my DR’s meeting, which I NEVER do.

Question continues from my blog: so is there any plan on where the kids go when the music stops in this game of musical chairs? Surely the city doesn’t just tell the kids you have no place to go or catch the subway and go to this school x miles away.

The last round of closures that I saw up close, in the Bronx, it looked like a good number of weaker students just went away.

In particular, most of the school closing plans call for 4 year phase-outs, but we’re talking about kids who take 5 and 6 years to finish.

And newer, weaker kids? They will get targeted to a small number of close-by schools, some of them may even be mini-schools. When we see which schools are accepting them, we will know that they are being selected for the next round of closures.

Good to have you back. The rumor was that you had gone off to the Himalayans to mediate and plan the New Action spring offensive.
