Teacher Pay from far away: Sandy, Utah
I will be concentrating on pay in the New York metropolitan area, but a reader sent a link from Sandy, Utah, so why not share it? Remember though, the cost of living is significantly lower there – their numbers and ours are not directly comparable.
Sandy is a suburb of Salt Lake City, 93.5% white, about 80,000 people, and per capita income of about $23,000.

Sandy’s salary schedule is below the fold ———–>
Remember, this is a different schedule from a different place, far away from the New York Metropolitan Area, with very different cost of living, esp housing, etc.
The structure is interesting, but the numbers are not comparable to New York City.

Share links, or e-mail me, and I will post more salary schedules. The one’s have posted? Most I stumbled on; now two readers have sent them in, a commenter linked to some recent data, and I found a paper copy of one. Send more, I’ll post more (and more people will send more, and more people will read them, and more people ….)
the average income in sandy is 72000 and the average house price is 240000. i don’t know where you got your info from with the 23000 because that isn’t right. Sandy is listed in the top 100 cities and you can get more information there. I am a teacher in sandy also and can not live off of my income. there are 174 teaching position for the 2007-08 that have not been filled and have long term subs in them. Also when I call in for a sub there I have no clue whether one will accept the job or not because there aren’t enough subs to go around. Utah is in a crisis in education. The legislature has no one to blame but themselves since Utah spends the least amount of money per pupil than any other state.
Thank you for your comment. Those are last year’s numbers. I need to update.
