Integrated Algebra Regents – later today
There’s not much more you can do at this point, but we do have three exams with answers and one sample exam. I guess it couldn’t hurt to look back through them. New York State Education Department produces semi-repetitive exams. Relax (as much as you can). Do everything you know. And then go back and (multiple choice) take your best guess or (free response) make sure you have written something down, even if you can only start the problem. Leave no blanks!
The conversion chart will be available later today. Bear in mind as you work, 40 is guaranteed to pass. But maybe as low as 30 will pass? We don’t know. But as you are working it might not hurt to notice when you are certain of an answer, and how close you are coming to 30, then to 40…
New:
I posted multiple choice answers; short answers will come soon.
JMap will post the whole exam. (Monday?)
thanks for having the keys its really helpful
r u sure its 40 my teacher was saying like 60
if it was 60 everyone in my class probly failed
will you be posting both questions and answers?
I just saw the conversion chart for June 09:
http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/osa/concht/june09/ia-cc-609.htm
30 is a pass.
I think I lucked out a bit with a histogram in part IV. That’s the one thing every one of my students knew how to do.
was it a cumulative or regualr?
A whole buncha problems made their way from previous short anwsers to multiple choice on this test… while the problem I was dying for them not to ask (use trig ratio into pythag) OF COURSE(!!!) came up on part four. Where was the comparison of ratios? Where was the equation from two points? Where was the problem of central tendency? Of course the passing score keeps dropping, C’MON NY!!!
The trig ratio was part 3, not 4… so you can worry a bit less:) But still that was a difficult one for all of my students.
I was hoping for a central tendency problem too, but if I’m not mistaken there was a problem with that problem in the past; they had to change the allowable 4 point answers.
The system of equations in part 4 was a good one. I drilled that type of problem with my kids, along with the roots of a parabola, and “guaranteed” them that one of them would be on the long answer section. Thank goodness I was right!
Trig was part 4. I don’t understand why that is a bad thing though… they get the ratios on their reference sheet! I think the part 4’s were very straight-forward, but the part 3’s were BS
Are the keys up?if not,how long?
When are the keys going to be up?
Anyone know when the keys are going to be posted?
POSTTT THE TESTT AND ANSWERS PLEASE I AM IN NEED I AM SO SCAREDDD:(
me too plz post the answers
when are you posting the answers!?!!?? its usually so quick but now its taking so long! ive been waiting for them to be up! please post them very very soon!
pleaseeee post hte answesr!!!
So a 30 passes… less than 35% of the raw test score. SCARY!
Makes my goal of 80% of my 8th graders look laughable, despite the fact we started the year teaching the “basic” NYS 8th grade standards. I am , tho, encouraged by the rigor of the geometry test, as it seems much more focused on the key concepts of the curriculum.
Finally, will the NY Regents officially post the rubrics for parts 2,3,4 before Monday morning? All three of the math teachers in my department have agree don the answers for the multi-choice, but cannot grade any further because we are unsure of the rubrics for short-answer questions. (conceptual vs. computational not withstanding)
It’s something with those scales, right? And the poor kids, as they are writing the exams, have little idea what score they are earning. Bad practice.
So NYSED will not be posting rubrics soon. The answer key should have come to your school already. (but separately from the tests). Check on Monday with whoever handles the deliveries from Albany. It should be there.
This was the first ever Regents offered at our MS charter school… so there really isn’t any protocol yet for this stuff. We don’t even have a NYS safe, so we had to pick up our tests from Lehman HS. Should I have been expecting the answer key on Friday, or is it s’posed to arrive Monday? Thanks for the heads up… appreciated!
Return to Lehman. They have the key for you. And if they don’t, the Math Department there should gladly give you a set. The AP’s still DePesa.
please psot the answers!!
C’mon… enough with the answer pleas, they’ll be up when they’re up!
It’s the weekend, let the man, hero, legend get a lil shut eye…
please post the answers!
please post the answers + test so we can check please!!! Its already 855!
getting to it now. Within the hour.
where will the answers be posted when you post them?
where will the answers be posted when you post them?
9:34 :) Please post the answers as soon as possible and the tests also! :)
where are the answers and the test going to best posted when u post them?
thanks for doing this for us as students. we really appreciate it. ive been stressing bout the answers for tht test all night
Are the answers going to be up by 10 o clock? Cause i have to go soon :( I am Extremely worried!
Are you gonna post a link for the answers? or do you post on this website? What about the test?
9:55:20 :) Please post the test & answers :P Sorry for da rushh
9:59:20 omg omg omg its almost 10! I have to go soon xDD please post the answers tests
where are the answrrs?
Are the answers going to be posted here?
where are the answers?
how many points will u lose if u drew the best fit line but didnt do the equation of the line on the scat plot?
you will most probably lose 1 points.
I’m thinking:
1 credit given for- Plots
1 credit given for- Best Fit Line
1 credit given for- the linear regression equation
come on 10:56 now plz post the answers im very worried
** UNOFFICIAL **
4,3,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,2,4,2,3,1,3,4,1,1,3,1,2,1,2,3,2,3,4,2,2,4
The second answer should be 4. The test are good.
Don’t I feel silly, I answered with the factors and not the roots!
ME
are they posted?
Was # 35 rate of growth, or I=PxRxT.
depends how you did it…I used A=P(1+r)^n compound interest
When is the actual exam with the question going to be posted?
u need 2 get a 30 raw score 2 pass
On The Quick Answers, You got a Couple Wrong.
With the exception of number 2, my answers matched identically:
4,4,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,2,4,2,3,1,3,4,1,1,3,1,2,1,2,3,2,3,4,2,2,4
As for the free response questions:
31. 60
32. 4x(x +3)(x – 3)
33. 1/8 or 0.125
34. 56 sq. inches
35. $5,583.86
36. y = 4.54x + 27.91 (calculator regression equation) or y = 5x + 25 (if calculated manually)
37. 39ft, 63ft
38. Histogram with heights of 4, 5, 4, 8, 7, 2
39. (-1, 8) (5, -4)
When will jmap.org post the whole exam?
I knew it was going to be a low passing grade. I was guessing 35. I didn’t expect 30.
But one of my co-workers has been saying for a week: it’s an election year. Maybe not in New York State, but it is in New York City, and Bloomberg’s got friends and influence, it seems.
(Our RCT Math grades are up phenomonally this year.)
will you be putting the answers on because i dont remember the questions
