Mike Klonsky got censored

November 19, 2007 am30 5:04 am

[Update: the rightwing blogger, almost a full year slow, changed his terms of use notice, and contacted WordPress to complain about my (!) copyright violation. I am reluctantly removing the photo. – jd2718, July 31, 2008]

He says Yahoo took down a photo (read it here).

Back in August he blogged about former Secy of Education Rod Paige calling the NEA terrorists (post is here, but censored). Mike included a photo of Paige with a rightwing blogging yahoo (small y). It’s the photo that Yahoo deleted.

I’ll put the original, with censored photo, beneath the fold.

[This is the uncensored post by Mike Klonsky. Unfortunately, I lost his nice typefaces and fonts – 2718]
“I have no problem with teachers, but…”–Rod Paige

Union busters Darren & Rod Paige

August 2nd

Has no regrets about calling NEA “terrorists”

Former Secretary of Education Rod Paige attended a union-busters convention, sponsored by a little group of yahoos called, Concerned Educators Against Forced Unionism (tied to Jeanne Allen’s right-wing charter group, The Center for Education Reform) to pump his obviously ghost-written book, The War Against Hope (he is waging one, you know).

One of my favorite lines in Paige’s anti-teacher diatribe, starts out with Paige saying:

“No, I have no problem with teachers…”

Now whenever you hear someone begin a statement with, “I have no problem with…(blacks, Mexicans, Jews, or fill in the blank_____), you know there’s a “but” coming and that they actually do have said problem. Paige definitely has a problem with teachers.

Paige was asked by one of the yahoos, someone named Darren,, whether he regretted calling the NEA a “terrorist” organization. Says Darren:

… he told me that he regrets the “hoopla” over his remark, but not the remark itself. It wasn’t a prepared remark, and he’d say it again. I asked him this question privately, not wanting to put him on the spot in front of others; he told me he appreciated that consideration, but didn’t mind this information being made public…

Colin Powell joins in

…He told how the terrorist remark happened–that there wasn’t press in the room when it happened–and about the aftermath. Colin Powell called him and joked, “You stick with education, I’ll take the terrorists”, and Paige responded, “I’ll take Arafat, you take the NEA.” There were more than chuckles in the room at that comment!

Oh that’s funny! Oh, stop please…my side hurts from laughing so hard.

The politics of disaster

Newt Gingrich is like the guy who yells “fire” in a movie theater. Only, he’s one of the arsonists. Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Gingrich singled out the Detroit Public Schools for attack, calling DPS a “disaster.” His solution to the district’s high dropout rate? Pay students for getting good grades in math and science.

Hey Newt, how about a pizza party. That’s always good for fixing “disasters.”

A classier move would be to link to the original blog post rather than post his picture. Mike posted a picture he didn’t have permission to post. You’ve probably done the same. Is your anger really worth more than your integrity?

I can’t think of much classier than supporting as dedicated and honest a blogger as Mike.

And the photo is public domain. We don’t ask for permission.

But while we are discussing class, anonymously posting is allowed on this blog, but doing it while lawyering is classless. Stop.

The picture is not public domain. The message at the bottom of the web site says so.
