Teacher Pay Scale – Danbury CT
As I find them, I will post teacher pay scales, concentrating on communities not so far from NYC. For the New York City Department of Education salary schedule, click current or future.
In each category, increases of about $2,175 per year, until max
Danbury, Connecticut is a small city (pop 78,000), inland, in the western part of the state, not far from Brewster, New York. It is a majority white city, though in recent years there has been significant immigration from Ecuador and Brazil. The official numbers (76 white, 7 Black, 15 Hispanic, with some more of 2 races or other) probably miss this more recent immigration. Per capita income is about $24,500, and median family income is $62,000.
Danbury’s salary schedule is below the fold ———–>
This is the simplest of the salary charts I have posted so far. Each raise is about $2,175. I like that you can figure out your own pay. Watch this:
Base is $41982. Add $2175 for each additional year teaching. Add $3620 for 30 above the BA, or $4440 for a Masters, or $8690 for a MA+30, or $13,020 for a PhD. Example: 3rd year teacher with PhD $41982 + 2 x $2175 + $13020 = $59,352. Exactly correct. Another example: 10th year teacher, MA $41982 + 9 x $2175 + $4440 = $65,997. The real number is $65,886. Pretty close.
The maximum’s kick in between 12 and 15 years.
In reviewing other districts, Glen Rock, New Jersey seems to have a similarly simple scale. Glen Rock, starts a bit lower ($2 – 3k, depending on education), has slightly smaller jumps (just under $2150), but even as the scale lags compared to Danbury in the middle, it keeps increasing after Danbury hits max.

Given that the first step was dropped and the steps renumbered in 2006-2007, the step number for teachers not yet at maximum shall be the same this year. Teachers new to Danbury will not be given experience credit greater than that given for experience in Danbury.
