Bad luck with carnivals
April 5, 2009 am30 3:09 am
Maybe I was late. Maybe I was ignored? But my submission did not make it into Math Teachers at Play #4. Shame. It is a really nicely put together carnival. Go take a look. There’s some good pedagogy, and some neat problem solving/puzzle links, including to blogs I haven’t seen before.
I’ve had submission problems with other carnivals in the past. Sometimes my fault. Sometimes not.
Next week, a new carnival of mathematics. I think. Actually, I can’t find #51 or #52. Anyone know? And the week after, edition 5 of Math Teachers at Play. Let’s see if I can make either of those.

Sorry about that – I hosted this time and just went through all the emails I got for the carnival and didn’t find any under JD2718. Was it submitted under something else I could search? I’m happy to add it to the post if I missed it. This is the first carnival I’ve hosted, so it could be my bad.
I pretty much used all the math submissions, though I did leave out a couple spam/non-math submissions. The deadline was Wednesday. If you submitted after that, it will go in next month’s carnival.
Let me know. I’m glad you enjoyed the carnival.

First of all, great carnival.
I didn’t e-mail you, which was probably the problem. I used the carnival tool, and very close to the deadline. That’s pretty much the whole story. I have someone to be annoyed with – me.
You really did a nice job.
i’ve assumed (publicly) that
the CoM was probably gone forever.
have you got better info?
the last i knew was john cook’s #50.
this hasn’t made it into alon’s list;
everything else i know is right there where it oughta be.
If you had missed the deadline, your submission should have been emailed to me, since I’m listed as the next host. So far, the only post I’ve gotten has been a spam submission on finanacial planning. It sounds like the carnival submission tool is messing up again—it used to lose my submissions all the time with the Carnival of Mathematics.
I try to send an email response recognizing each submission (in addition to the automatically-generated blog carnival receipt), so if you don’t get a personal note from me, please drop me an email to ask if your post came through.
There were a couple of incidents where I thought the host disapproved of my submission, but not here. I will just try to submit earlier next time, that way, if there is no acknowledgement…
Kate(t) has asked me to write up some of my freshman set theory stuff, which I will do, gladly. And probably in time. And it’ll be good for #5? We’ll see!
Do you know anything about the CoM? I hope Vlorbik is wrong, but…
I hope the CoM hasn’t passed away, but I haven’t seen any sign of life recently. I wonder if the hosts just wore out and quit volunteering? I can see that being a real possibility, as I begin to realize just what a job I’ve taken on by organizing the MTaP carnival. I didn’t realize how fast every two weeks would race by…
