Vacation planning – refocused

July 8, 2007 pm31 5:53 pm

So I started with questions about Iceland, and moved on to more questions about Iceland, and now? Everything’s coming into focus, but Iceland is out of the picture. Berlin is set, my little Greek island is set, Salonika is set, and then I have a few days to journey as I will.

Remaining question: Waking up one Monday in northern Greece, where will I wander for the next week or so? And at the end of that week, will I be returning from Athens, Thessaloniki, Istanbul, Sofia, or somewhere else?

Oh, and everything needs to be resolved by Monday (tomorrow) night, so if you have any ideas, jump right in!

    If that’s a question you’re asking, then that’s a beautiful life, man …

    Good luck w/ that :-)

    Jose,

I taught the first few summers that I was a teacher. What a mistake! Then I had a college job for a few summers. The money was better, but I was still teaching. Then my program got shut, and I had to have a summer off. And I have taken off each summer since.

Summer vacation is great. You can explore the world (or New York), at your own pace. You can catch up. Breathe. And recover in time for the next year.

I would strongly recommend you take a summer vacation. And not teach in the summer (if you can afford not to). Try it, once, and you’ll stick with the “recharge over the summer” model for a long, long time.
