Felisa Rincon de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy – Do Not Apply
On the advice of a few good sources, I added this school, quietly, without detail, to the Do Not Apply list last summer. No one wrote in to correct me, nor did anyone write to add details. I let it sit.
But over the last few weeks, this little high school on Story Avenue in the Bronx (is that Soundview?) has generated more than its fill of negative comments. I reproduce them, below.
In New York City, there are good schools, bad schools, and in between schools. But some are so bad, so toxic, so abusive of new teachers, so arbitrary, so threatening, demeaning or intimidating, that no one should apply to work in these places. There are schools where a new teacher coming in has an unacceptably high risk of leaving in a year, or even before the year is out, lost to teaching forever, whether by being traumatized by the experienced or targetted for dismissal by an out of control principal.
These schools are Do Not Apply. Felisa Rincon is one. (click “more” for comments)

The Felisa Rincon Gautier Institute is runned by a 6th grader, who throws tandrums, gets ghetto, and is less articulate than her struggling reading, and math students………….she pals around with some femalesteachers

Yes, I heard of how the principal at the Felisa Rincon school actually prompts kids to lie on teachers, she is dangerous!She is a major liar herself!She has defamed the characters of more than one of her teachers, by placing false charges on them, without any proof! What goes around comes around!!All of these administrators will reap what they sow, it is just the way life is! It is called Karma, and it is also a Biblical principle!Do not fret about these administrators! leave them in God’s hands!!

I heard that they are going to close the building of the Felisa Rincon school due to the fact that it is built on toxic material……it is also headed by toxic individuals too!

How can you be a school leader at the age of 24? You need experience to understand the nature of teaching. Teaching for two years and then becoming a principal does not make you an education leader! This principal, who did not even receive tenure in her teaching license, is telling teachers how to teach. Do medical students tell doctors how to operate? She doesn’t even understand the methodoloyg of teaching unless she quotes it from a book. If she reads from a book, then she tells teachers how to teach! There’s no experience for her to share with the teaching staff. She has no empathy for the teaching staff. She’s numbers, data, statistics, reports,etc. When teachers do show her the data why certain programs are not working, she does not want to hear it because it’s not following her agenda of ignorance. Klein allowed her to be in charge of a school with so much responsibility when she really should be in charge of growing up and maturing in this system. I feel that the students, in the end, are short-changed because a true, experienced educator was not chosen to run the school. The ironic part here is that students see how incompetent she is and they are so displeased with the school. How very sad!
I forget to mention that the school is Felisa Rincion de Gautier where the principal became a principal at 24 now 30. By the way, the assistant principals are not any better. Three incompetent administrators and teachers are being blamed for not promoting students to next level.
There is a saying that goes, “be sure your sins will find you out!”
and “God does not like Ugly” This principal of the Felisa Rincon De Gautier Institute has turned on her hardest working teachers, teachers
who have done more than their share of work. I know of one teacher
there who worked so hard at the school especially when the principal really needed someone with that expertise in a particular service area
and this principal has turned on this teacher for no reason. But the
“hens will come home to roost” (meaning a person reaps what they sow in due time, just when they least need it!) The problem with this
school which is an advantage to the principal is that no one takes on her on! Meaning, it seems like no one files complaints, formally or otherwise! Therefore, this woman does what she wants. She tries to stick to hiring “newbies” (meaning, people who are new to teaching, and new in the system) because they are afraid, ….she thrives on this!! It is sickening, how this fickle, chameleon-natured, self-hating, insecure, jealous (of talented teachers) minority woman behaves!!

testing credentials for their license area!!!One of her favorite
teachers, who I heard could not even pass the licensing test in her area, or control a class, or teach, but received an S rating, for the last several years, had to go back to her country because the NYCDOE had to step in and say enough is enough!!
I Know Who Your Talking About… She Was On Of The Greatest Teachers In The School… I Should Know I Was Her Student, She Was A Great Educator. She Helped Many Students Pass Their Regents (Including Me). But I Do Agree That This Principle Name Ms. Laboy Is No Good… I had To Deal With Her For 4 Years… I Became Friends With Many Of The Sub’s And Teachers And They All Do Agree That She Is Unfit For The Job… THE WHOLE SCHOOL HATES HER, She Would Fire Any Teacher Who Would Try To Attack her, She Would Also Yell At The Student If They Tried To Do The Same. I heard that this principal is a major plagarist!!She actually
collects the lesson plans or other writings of her teachers, and demands that they give her a copy, she puts it in a binder,
and either uses it as if she wrote it or gives it to another

(Backstabbing must run in her family, cause her cousin caught a bad one in the streets)! It looked plagarized to me, because there is another story on the internet written by someone else years ago, before she came up with her, and it has the same title. …same words! Ah Oh!! Ahhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!(LOL)

in last years graduation, (the first graduating class of the school)… she claimed that these students were the 1st historic graduates. Funny, her speech mentioned nothing about them. It was all about her wishing that she could “Planting tomatoes on the moon”. All about her! This should tell you what kind of woman she is.
First of all, here are all the characteristics of this principal at
the Felisa Rincon De Gautier School (H.S) in the Bronx:
a) minimal intelligence
b) a pathological liar
c) emotionally disturbed (can’t control her emotions, loses control,
walks out of meetings when she is pissed off about something said;
so therefore, is she even pass her “terrible twos” stage?
d) exhibits sociopathic tendencies
e) exhibits self-hatred (hates the fact that she comes from poverty
and grew up in a Bronx project)
f) a plagarist (will steal anything (writing) that looks and sounds
good and use it as her own that is in writing)then has the nerve to
accuse someone of stealing, oh please!! She should be the last one
to accuse anyone of stealing
g) jealous of other women (only men should apply)
h) lacks talent in anything
i) has the constant need for someone to kiss her a**”. If you
do not kiss the beh**ds of her and her small clique of favorite
untalented teachers you will pay the price.
j) if you are a talented, tenured teacher she will U rate you
out of pure spite and jealousy
k) ungrateful
l) childish, insecure
m) physically ugly (has not even one good feature about her even
though she is very slim)
n) lacks a conscience, has no heart
o) hates the fact that she is a member of a minority group
p) is divisive, instead of striving for peace like how any leader
should she spends her time gossiping and relating gossip especially
amongst the females on her staff.
q) a backstabber
r) dangerous (will reck a persons reputation on baseless nonesense)
s) inarticulate
t) crazy (she actually got insulted when someone related to her
that she looks like her mother!!)This is her own mother!!!SICK!!
I do not care what your mother looks like, if someone tells you “oh, I met your mother and I think you look like her”, how on earth are you going to get insulted? This woman has such self-hatred problems and should she seek help.
I always though that all administrators she undergo psychological testing before being given a job in leadership!
I also think that a person should be a least 35 before they can have such a job, then the chances of mistakenly hiring a child like what happened here at the Felisa Rincon HS would not happen.

All that is said is true! This principal is soooooo horrible and vindictive. It makes me sad that no one has tried to help the staff that works there. We are actually a wonderful staff that gets along well and would and could do great things for our students, but the lack of positive and experienced leadership makes it a scary, negative, and depressing place to work. Where are the “powers that be” coming in to help us? Our principal changes grades, makes teachers feel uncomfortable and scared and has two incompetent, inexperienced AP’s that are only ou to screw each other. This school makes me feel like there is NO HOPE for the students of the NYCDOE!!!!!
Look! I am reading so much about the fear that these administrators
instill in their teachers. This principal at the Felisa Rincon
school is a child. I very recently overheard one parent say about her: “that’s the principal! she looks like a little girl!”. Not only does she look like one, she sounds like one, walks like one, talks like
one, reacts like one, and has the emotional maturity level of a child….Upon entering the door for a job interview of any administrator that does not even look like an adult, and putting your career in the hands of such is professional suicide. I know that you cannot judge a book by its cover, but this is not worth the risk!!
Remember this as you seek transfers this spring out of your immediate Hell!!
If you do not want to transfer out of your school then you must
unite together just like the teachers at Fordham HS. An administrator
can tell if the staff they supervise is united. Sometimes disunity
amongst staff members encourages these administrators to behave in this way.
You cannot just sit there and say “where are the powers that be?”.
No one is going to stop by your school and ask “if you all are alright”!
You must document!document!document! and report!
Staff members can even do this without giving their name. Remember
no one will know about the problems at the school, unless someone says something, and it cannot be just left to one person to complain or report!
I know that sometimes the school UFT rep may be more fearful than
the staff. This is sad. This is also why you must do your share to eliminate these PRINCIPALS IN NEED OF REMOVAL!
the Principal (for lack of a better word because all she does is sit on her laptop in her office and type) must be REMOVED. She is like a virus who eats away at the flesh. She is destroying the students and weakening the morale of the teachers. The “Leadership Academny” needs to learn that not everyone can be a leader and you can not make someone a leader who does not have the skills.
I agree. You also cannot make someone a leader (real principal) who does not have the talent, sincere passion, as well as burden for students who are disadvantaged. You cannot be a real leader if people who you supervise are not inspired by you. THE DEFINITION OF A LEADER IS ONE WHO HAS REAL FOLLOWERS!! You cannot be a leader if you have not “sold” youR ideas to the point that people are on board
with you! ….and demonstrate this with the eagerness to come to work and do more than what they have to do! It is funny, I looked at how much the principal and AP of the Rincon Institute bragged about their students being invited to Washington to see the Inauguration. They are talking about how much the kids have learned and that is all well and nice!
But there was a lesson that they can take from Obama also. How did
a Black man get so many people’s votes? Why? Because he is a natural born leader, and we all want to follow his lead so most of us (at least enough of us, so that he can win) gave him our vote! Why? Because
he “sold” us his ideas, and his plan! His passion is contagious, and his inspiration is overwhelming! He is mature! The first thing he
said is that “we must put away childish things!” I though of
THAT PRINCIPAL!!
A leader can have followers with threatening them!….like how so many

Wait a minute!… It is probably the response of one of her favorite unsatisfactory teachers! I am a resident in Albany, NY, and I have a friend who wants to teach ESL she is bright and educated and a former model from the Ford Modeling Agency! She is excited about teaching! She has her Masters Degree and has fulfilled all her credentials to teach ESL! She has already taught many people who just came to this country how to read and write and speak fluent English. She is magical! She had natural talent!!Thank you for saving her career! She will not be applying to this school! THE FELISA RINCON SCHOOL. Now we know you must research, research, research before entering the doors of a NYCDOE school. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Once you are in A SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER you cannot change schools right away, you have to bare the unbareable harassment until June!!

This person has one of the worst stories and experience that you can have with a NYCDOE principal. It is extremely sad!! and boarders

The goal of this blog is to inform others about the school, its philosophy, and the cultural attitude towards teaching and learning. The administration at this school does not promote teaching and learning. Teachers have to push students forward, whether or not the students possess the skills and knowlegde. Push them forward because of credit accumulation. The principal is constantly telling everyone to tell students to Believe Achieve Succeed, yet students are given diplomas that they cannot read. How is that Believe Achieve Succeed? Why bother teaching? If a student comes to class 80% of the time, just give the student a passing grade even if the student failed every test/quiz/regents,etc. Social Promotion is alive at Felisa Rincon!!! Teachers are afraid to fail a student even if he/she demonstrates true academic deficiencies. Push them forward, give them a diploma, and let them go to Brown University. Maybe those students will become administrators. It is very sad when administrators would rather push students to the next level because of stats and to keep their jobs. Teachers cannot state the truth about the way administration is running the school out of fear that they might get PD to death, or will have to Differentiate every bit of the lesson from the minute you pick up the chalk until the bell rings, or will have an instructional talk from administration when they themselves do not differentiate their lessons, cannot run a PD well, and do not understand the structure of instruction. I hope whoever reads this blog realizes that education at this school is based on stat and nothing but the stat because true teaching is not allowed.

Then when he realized that someone realized who he is he comes back as “Me b*tch” and tries to pretend that he is a student; he does this to throw off suspicion! “Haterz” and “Me b*tch” is no youngster or student at the school, my bet is that it is the husband of the principal. He is the only adult who is close to the principal, and who would talk like this, so disrespectfully!!

Everything on here about laboy is true..our school is pathetic, she is pathetic, heartless, dishonest, scared..She sits in her office all day..when certain parents come to the school to meet with her she’ll tell other administrators that she is in a meeting or a conference call when really she’s locked in her office on her laptop. When there was a senior meeting with the parents to discuss the school’s financial issue and status of senior due payments she came an hour late claiming she was in a meeting, bullshyt!! I walked past here office and there she was just sitting there. So many parents have came to the school flipping out on her. Our senior dues are $350. Graduation is this friday and at the last minute she announces to some seniors that they are still missing credits and therefore can not walk in graduation and need I say that $350 is not refundable!! sad to say I am one of those seniors, sad to even say I go to this school, I swear I would’ve been better off in Stevenson. Laboy has the stinkest attitude along with the assistant principle Velasquez, the way she switches around the halls flicking her hair you can’t tell that “Ms. Fashionista nothing.” Anyway our school is literally thousands of dollars in debt, why??? Because they didn’t pay off last years senior year books, they didn’t pay the prom location at the Villa Barone, and they owe the fund raising company money from last year for not selling all those boxes of candy. They tried to make students sell that old chocolate, its horrrible. I hate that school with a passion.
Almost tok a job there a few years ago. Thre was something about her that made me think twice. Sometimes we luck out.

That school is bearly a school, it looks more like an Aids Clinic when
you first walk in the building. It has no school spirit! It is dead!
It definitely does not seem like a school at all, it seems like some type of medical clinic facility.(no disrespect to the students!) It is the job of the adults especially the leaders to make the school a spirit -filled, happy, pleasant place for the kids. Your high school years will be your most precious. It is sad that these students will only have this sad place as a memory when they are older or in their 40′s).

As a former student of a NYC Board of Ed School in the Bronx, I am disgusted by the comments from the teaching staff that this post has generated.
It may go a long way to explain why many of them are no longer working at the facility.
I know a number of individuals and students that attend the school, and the negative comments below reek of unprofessionalism, bitterness, and lack of tact.
It is disgusting that in a system with a process to hear professional and legitimate complaints, those channels were not utltized and instead like children these educators run to a blog to insult and demean like the very children they educate which turn to facebook for such things. At least there, the children aren’t anonymous and stand by their vitriol.
Here I see so called educators acting no better than common trash. I graduated from the a NYC Board of Ed high school in 96, went on to college and graduate school, and have many friends who i admire at various schools across the city, including a few at the HS in question.
This just highlights the calibur of individual that plagues the NYC Board of Ed, and why most of the teaching staff (who went out of the way to make distasteful comments below) are failing our students.
Disgusting and shameful. I have the utmost respect for the facilty currently at FRDG, and anyone that takes the opinion of the anonymous cowards below as truth should think twice.

Let’s not act that the DoE-run system is going to be impartial when it comes to hearing complaints about the DoE. Let’s also not act like the DoE has a history of agreeing with itself and expecting the UFT to push things into arbitration with the knowledge that the DoE has infinite [tax payer based] financial resources, while the UFT only has union dues, so not every issue that SHOULD be arbitrated CAN be arbitrated.

Felisa Rincon HS, what can I say…. I do agree Administration really should be checked and replaced by faculty who really do care about our youth today. Administration at this HS seem to forget that the students that attend are still kids growing to become yound adults. From experience dealing with Administration @ Felisa Rincon, I can honestly say it wasn’t very pleasent.
My son just graduated this year from this HS and I am very proud of him. But he had to over come many obstacles that were thrown his way by administration. My family instilled strong morals and values to my teenage son and I commend him for sticking by them and saying I am going to get my diploma…. Some of these kids will go to college, some get jobs, and unfortunetely some might just say the hell with it and drop out because of the BS they experience in this school.
I speak from experience the HELL that administration put my son thru I would not wish for any other kid or parent to have to deal with. Ms. Laboy and Ms. Martin (yeah you know) took away my sons experience of being a senior ex. Senior trip, pictures, prom, even graduation. He went thru deprevation of character and almost expellsion from the NYC board of Ed. system because of these two women. But at the end of the day they didn’t break him. I could proudly say my son is a 2010 graduate, no thanks to the administration of Felisa Rincon HS.

I am posting this comment in the hopes that JD2718, will contact me via email, as I am in possession of hard evidence in support of the corrupt, demoralizing, and illegal criminal activity which still goes on at The Felisa Rincon de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy high school, also known as GILPP or X519. If I weren’t close to graduating, I would’ve transferred school a long time ago. In four years, 8 teachers that I know of have left the school, 1 assistant principal and 1 guidance counselor has sadly passed away. I hate to think of all the kids left to suffer after I graduate. I know many teachers are afraid to voice their opinions because the principal will write letters and out them in their files, but I am not afraid. I hope to one day maybe become a teacher myself, and I never ever want to work or send my children to a school like The Felisa Rincon de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy.

If you are aware of wrongdoing in your school, you should speak directly to an uninvolved teacher or counselor or administrator (if there is one you trust) or contact the Department of Education directly. If you cannot figure who to speak with or call, I may be able to help you find the right office downtown.
Chancellor Walcott has made it known that he wants to investigate inappropriate activities by principals. Send your complaint directly to him at his email address at the DOE. There is an article in the NY Post where the Chancellor was interviewed by Michael Goodwin wherein they discussed bad principals. While Walcott is asking teachers to notify him directly, I am sure students will be accepted. I personally reported a principal with my evidence and I received a personal email in reply from the Chancellor himself stating that he will have his staff investigate. It’s worth reporting no matter what happens. The Chancellor’s email address DWalcott@schools.nyc.gov. Be sure to put “Goodwin article” in the subject line. Any other teachers will complaints should email him also.

Thanks for keeping these comments posted. I am a tenured teacher at Fordham High School for the Arts, X437, in Bronx, New York. The principal there is Iris Blige, who never taught a class in her life. Has no teaching credentials but attended Bloomberg Leadership Academy and was among the first graduates of this Academy. Well, to shorten the story, I landed on the wrong side of Iris Blige three years after she took over the school in 2004. In 2007, I became the UFT Chapter leader and forced Ms. Blige to abide by UFT contractual agreements with DOE. She gave me my first U-rating ever in 2008. Again in 2009, 2010, 2011. She has used Children First Network to try to build a case against me. Thus far, she has called in five (5) people from the outside but within the Network to observe my teaching. She refuses to let my Assistant Principal, my immediate supervisor, observe me. My immediate supervisor rates my lessons satisfactory. She was reprimanded and told that giving me satisfactory would undo everything that she was doing, despite the fact that she was tried and found guilty of ordering other assistant principals to give me unsatisfactory. For this deed, DOE fined her $7,500 and let her keep her job. Iris Blige just held a C-30 today to appoint assistant principal #17 in the eight years serving as principal of this school. Since taking over the school in 2004, we’ve had approximately 100 teachers pass through this school. In her own words, “Teachers come a dime a dozen.” Today, April 17, 2012, Ms. Blige called in Grismaldy Laboy Wilson to hold a pre-observation conference with me. Grismaldy Wilson, who talks so fast that it is difficult to understand her because she stops at no periods, her sentences have no commas, and her speech is that of a street person. This is the woman that Iris Blige has asked to observe me tomorrow, April 18, 2012. Grismaldy’s demeanor, attitude, questioning and deception were an insult to my intelligence.
I would appreciate any comments or information that anyone may have about this woman.

I was in a meeting with Laboy a few weeks ago and I was stunned with how she spoke…Exactly as you describe. When I commented about this to a teacher at her school, she said “oh yes, she always talks like that.” I think she doesn’t want people to understand or process what she says. From this experience I know you didn’t have a productive preobservation conference although I’m sure that was the intent.

Here are two more schools to add to your do not apply list. Fordham High School for the Arts, with the perverse and criminal Iris Blige at the helm. Your only guarantee is that she will destroy your career, if there is any way to do it. And MS 80, also in the Bronx, principal Lovey Rivera is as evil and mentally ill as Iris Blige, you do NOT want to be subjected to her persecution and madness.

In my first statement, I forgot to mention that Iris Blige, the principal; in her endless pursuit to destroy the careers of teachers whom she decides should lose their license has gone as far as accusing an international teacher of threatening to kill her (see YouTube, March 13, 2009 Rally). The UFT “brass” deserted this teacher with 7-plus years of excellent teaching in New York City public school system. But thanks to our District Representative (who retired last year — may God bless her always) stood with me, the Chapter Leader, to defend this teacher. After three years of suffering, this teacher was found “not guilty” a few months ago. Iris Blige was allowed to keep her job as principal and to enjoy the blessings of the Children First Network (DOE), which she plays like a fiddle to get human resources, like Grismaldy Laboy Wilson, to help continue her destructive-type leadership while keeping her knife in my back. Truly, she and Grismaldy Laboy Wilson are two of a kind. The pre-observation conference with Grismaldy was not only unproductive but also an insult to my intelligence. At this point, Iris Blige has hardened my heart and set my face like flint to run on to see what the end will be. I have nothing to lose. I am a well-educated person, with two masters, a Ph.D. and permanent administration license through the superintendent level. I am a professional economist who served as an expert with a top U.S. Government Agency for more than 12 years. I am also a writer and published several articles during my tenure with the U.S. Government; and published my first book in 2000 on social equity and the role education has played in this situation. During my service at Fordham H.S. for the Arts, my scholarship reports have equal to or surpass those of my fellow teachers. In January 2012, only my students passed the U.S. History Regents and of those taking the Global History Regents, over half of the students who passed were my students. Currently, I have a 100% passing rate for my two senior classes and over 90% passing rate for my two non-senior classes. My numbers are good and I work hard and overtime to keep the bar high for my students. Of course, Iris Blige does not care about this. My students’ achievement is blinded by her hatred and endless pursuit to try to destroy me. It is a game she is using to try to force me to quit my job. She has used intimidation, put down tactics and others to try to make me look stupid and incompetent. She has pulled all kinds of tricks and has nearly every UFT members at the school afraid to talk to me. Teachers have reported to me that they were told not to “talk with me and to stay away” from me. So far she has thrown everything at me including the proverbial “kitchen sink.” I await the “trash” that Grismaldy plans to throw at me. I will keep you, the readers, informed.

I await the day when karma catches up with Iris Blige. I don’t know how you remained at that school as long as you did. It wasn’t good for my health and am glad I was only there with her for one term. However, she forever damaged my career as an administrator by poisoning Papliberios against me. In the end, leaving administration was the best thing for me and I never regret my 27 year teaching career. What happened with me was minor when you see what she was capable of with Raqnel James and you. When karma comes around, she has a lot to make up for.
BTW, I wonder if she and Laboy were classmates at the Leadership Academy.
hey, i am now a senior student at the felisa rincon HS. All of these comments above are so very true. i want to take action and try to stop this. they are claiming that i failed my regents with the same scores as my January one. i don’t think its fair that i attended Saturday tutoring and took the class all over again and failed with a 57. students who didn’t complete the regents or didn’t know anything about it passed with flying colors. its not fair that she is ruining students lives and making them suffer. i have had so many problems with this school and i feel that they are trying to get back at me. they have told me numerous times not to be “ghetto” they even told most of my family members that also. she has her group of female supervisors who stick with her and get back at many students. i have gone crazy trying to put all of my information together. i would like for my test to be regraded but like ms.laboy says its illegal. i have gotten depressed over the last month prepping for this test and i just about had enough. Even when a dean cursed me out the “written statement” was no where to be found. these ladies are known to stick together. i know for a fact that i passed that exam because unlike all the rest of these students walking down the aisle i tried my hardest. i deserve my diploma. I feel bad for many of these students they honestly don’t know what their getting themselves into and i want to change this. i now have to attend summer school in order to pass this regent. i completed the whole regents and i didn’t leave anything blank, i don’t get how someone who left an essay blank got a 62 and i got lower, i knew the material due to the fact i took so many prep classes. their taking me for a fool. if anyone knows any information please don’t be afraid to write back. i need all the help i can get, i might even do a petition.

She received a grade of “C” as an administrator this year. Not the school grade, which also happens to be a “C”. Personally, I think that’s too generous a grade for her, but when you know somebody…like the chancellor…need I say more? The teachers at GILPP have allowed laboy and her side salcedoto be empowered. The teachers have turned their backs on the contract and union members that are and was being abused by administration in order to please her. I do not blame her for treating the teachers like factory workers because they have allowed it. Zulma is a strong chapter leader and if teachers and staff would have united they could have taken that school in a different direction. hopefully, if they value their license they would move on to a different environment.

…and the hits just keep on coming. Laboy had a party all planned out for the UFT rep and math teacher who announced her retirement. Party, cake and plaque all went to waste for this lady showed class by not showing up on what was her last day and snubbed the principal who treated her like trash all these years. Good for her!
So, Laboy is all nervous that her registry is dropping like the temperatures at night. She has created a hostile environment where no one wants to be and then she blames it on her staff…I wish I could share the email communication between her and her counseling staff, but it’s ok since one of the recipients has shared them with enough people, including yours truly, and it will soon be out there. The school has rolling admissions and discharges and she keeps pushing out more kids with her initiative to drop all under-performing students and “clean” registry. She has four people working that…a true drop out factory.
A word to the unwise: never hire anyone who is smarter than you.

The school has gone from a progress report grade B to a grade of low C.
The school’s graduation rate is declining because of lack of students passing classes and passing regents.
Student progress had been rated ‘D’ by the Department of Education on the progress report.
College readiness has been rated ‘F’ by the department of education on the progress report.
More than half Juniors and Seniors are deficient in three or more regents and are not on schedule to graduate with their cohort.
Laboy could have less than 60 percent of the senior class graduate even after cooking the books.
The attendance rate at GILPP is considerably lower compared to last year and continues to fall.
Policies enacted by this administration have failed.
Statistically the school is worse off with Laboy and Salcedo.
Let’s face it – Laboy is a Catastrophe.
She is a failing principal with a failing school and a failing AP – Salcedo.
Under Laboy/Salcedo’s watch things just keep getting worse.
How much worse would have been without Zulma Villalba fighting for her staff?
How many more will fail before this ends?
The DOE kept her at this school.
Is it time the DOE answered for this?
